About the studio
At the heart of our veteran-owned pottery and ceramic studio is a commitment to building a vibrant community centered around the art of ceramics. We believe that the joy of working with clay should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their skill level. Our studio welcomes individuals from all walks of life, providing a supportive environment where beginners can learn and experienced artisans can refine their craft. We encourage connection and creativity through workshops, collaborative projects, and open studio sessions, making our space a hub for sharing knowledge and inspiration among ceramic enthusiasts.
About Scott Beatty
A. Scott Beatty is an accomplished educator and Army veteran, originally from Northwest Iowa, with over fifteen years of teaching experience. He has taught mathematics in North Minneapolis and San Antonio, Texas, tutored and taught at universities and community colleges, and served as a chess coach and military Spanish interpreter. For the past eight years, he has dedicated himself to the art of ceramics, having been introduced to the art thirty years ago. He has taught a variety of ceramics courses, including beginning through advanced wheel, cone ten firing, and Raku techniques, sharpening his skills and expanding his creative and teaching practices throughout. Beyond his professional pursuits, Scott is a devoted husband and father and avid roller skater. His studio aims to foster a welcoming, workmanlike environment rich in creativity. For his family and students alike, Scott prioritizes fundamentals and consistency. His diverse background and passion for teaching and art reflect a deep commitment to ceramic arts and community engagement.

Return Policy: Purchased pieces may be returned to Oblate Clay at purchaser’s expense. If Items are received by Oblate Clay within thirty days of purchase and intact, a refund will be issued.
